The Clean Decision Framework

Most people don't make relationship decisions; they drift until a crisis forces their hand. A "clean decision" is an active choice made from clarity, not fear.

What is a Clean Decision?

A clean decision has three components:

  1. Reality Acceptance: You are deciding based on who your partner is, not who you hope they will become.
  2. Ownership: You accept the consequences of the choice (staying or leaving) without blaming the other person for "forcing" you.
  3. Alignment: The decision matches your core values and long-term goals.

A "dirty" decision is one made to manipulate the other person ("I'll threaten to leave so they change") or to avoid pain ("I'll stay because I'm scared of being alone").

The 60% Rule

You will never be 100% sure. Waiting for certainty is a form of avoidance. You only need to be 60% sure to start moving in a direction. Action creates clarity; stagnation creates confusion.
